Ignite a Fire
VITeach is a student-run social club at VIT University, Chennai campus. It was founded by a
group of students driven by the sole motive of making a difference in society. At VITeach,
students from across branches & batches come together to teach the children of the Adhi Dravida
Nadu Nilai Palli, a government school in Melakottiyur. The children are taught spoken and
written English through engaging, interactive and colorful media.
The club also organizes a ‘Sunday Kids’ session for the children of the working staff in the
campus. In these sessions, the children are encouraged to involve in games incorporating the
‘Play and Learn’ technique. Additionally, over the course of the academic year, events such as
Kids Carnival, the Wishtree initiative and plays are conducted for the children.
